A few weeks ago, I had the chance to do something truly extraordinary — something that pushed my mind, body, and courage to the limit. I became one of the first British civilians to fly the Gravity Industries Jet Suit — a 1,300-horsepower, human-controlled flight system that brings the dream of personal flight to life.
Filmed and produced just outside of Frome, Somerset, this short documentary captures every moment of the experience — the nerves, the failures, the breakthroughs, and ultimately, the feeling of defying gravity itself.
The Dream of Human Flight
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been obsessed with aviation and the idea of flight — not in an aircraft, but through raw human control. The Gravity Jet Suit, created by Richard Browning and the team at Gravity Industries, turns that dream into reality. It’s powered by five micro jet engines — two on each arm and one on the back — producing over 1,300 horsepower of pure thrust.
After a full day of training under the Gravity team, I managed to achieve a 14-second sustained hover — joining a group of fewer than 800 people in history who have ever flown one of these machines.
Behind the Scenes: The Dream Team
This was also the first time I had a full camera crew documenting a project of mine. The incredible team at Apex Media— led by Jordan Fowler and George Layton — brought this story to life with cinematic precision.
It was like watching a special operations team in action — a constant, seamless flow of cameras, drones, and microphones capturing every movement while allowing me to focus entirely on the challenge ahead. Their professionalism and creative mastery turned a single day of filming into something truly special.
A Story of Courage and Innovation
This documentary isn’t just about flying — it’s about the mindset required to push past fear and doubt to achieve something extraordinary. It’s about what happens when someone from a small Somerset town decides to chase a dream that looks impossible.
Working with Gravity Industries was a reminder that innovation and courage are deeply connected — and that every step forward in technology starts with someone daring enough to try.
